To produce 1 ton of aluminium about 17000 kwh of electricity is required. Production needs energy very much. This means that the price of aluminium profile is relatively high. However, It is very suitable for recycling.
Aluminium is rarely used in it’s pure form. Aluminium alloys are usually made by magnesium , manganese , copper and silicon and made by up to 15 times stronger than pure aluminium.
Like steel , heat treatment and work with cold also increase power.
Application for aluminium
It is expected from a high potential electrode to corrode aluminium , but as soon as production , It forms a stable oxide layer that protects it. Proper weight to weight ratio makes it ideal for light weight structures such as temporary buildings.
It is used for window frames but it’s high thermal conductivity often leads to condensation on the inside surface. High electrical conductivity means that it is used for electrical wiring but can lead to corrosion problems.
